Guide for recording videos to SD card storage
Step 1: Insert the SD card into the slot.
We recommend a high-quality SD card formatted in FAT32. The location of the SD Card slot is different for other ieGeek camera models, this is to say you can find the slot on the bottom, back, or side of the camera.
Step 2: Check if your camera recognized the SD card and if there is enough SD card storage space.
To check the SD storage card space via the ieGeek Cam or CloudEdge app
These two operate in the same way, let’s take the CloudEdge app for instance:
Launch the app, tap the device icon, and after that press settings, next click the “Recording Management” tab. This is where you can find the capacity of your SD card. Finally, tap “Format” if the SD card is at full capacity.
To check the SD card storage space via the CamHipro app
Launch the app, tap settings, click the “SD card setting”, choose “Free size”, in the end press “Format SD card”.
Some directions if your camera cannot detect the SD card:
- Check whether the SD card is damaged. If the SD card is undetected because of rust, wipe it
- Confirm the SD card format is correct. Format it into FAT32 on a PC
- Ascertain whether the SD card is encrypted.
a Restore the card and format it with a third-party tool on the computer
b Reinsert the SD card
c restart the camera after deleting the formal device.
d re-connect the device
- If the device fails to start without the card inserted, and the red light is on, the device is probably faulty.
Step 3: Record videos to local storage on IP Camera
To set up SD card storage via ieGeek Cam or CloudEdge app
Let’s take the CloudEdge app for an example: launch the app, click the device, go to settings, and turn on “Motion Detection” by clicking through “Alarm Management”. Enter “Custom Mode” under the “Alarm Working Mode”, and click the arrow icon. You may choose 10, 20, or 30 seconds for the “Recording time” and choose 2, 5, or 10 minutes for the “Alarm Interval” which customizes the SD recording period. It also supports setting up the detection area, entering “Motion Detection”, enabling “Alarm Area”, and adjusting the area manually.
To set up SD card storage via the CamHipro app
Launch the app, tap the gear icon, and click on the “SD card plan recording”, after taping “Enable record”. You can adjust the “Recording length” manually with a range of up to 600 seconds below. To customize the “Recording time period”, choose “Advanced setting”, and tap ”Quick editing” so that you can schedule the recording time period that you like.
Return to the “Alarm management and notification” tab, enter “Adjust motion detection”, and drag and outline the screen to confirm motion detection. Finally submit “Apply”. You have adjusted the detection area successfully.
Subsequently, choose ”Alarm capture to SD card” to receive any event footage. In addition to this, enable the “Alarm recording to SD card” to have 24/7 recording captured.
Tips: 24/7 recording captures everything. Whenever the disk space limit is reached on your micro SD card, the camera will begin to overwrite the oldest footage automatically.
